Sign Language by Bernie

Since gaining my level 1 qualification in BSL (British Sign Language), I’ve been eager to apply what I have learnt both inside and outside of school.  For the past 10 weeks, I have been attending a BSL choir every Thursday.  I had the pleasure, over the weekend, of performing two songs at the Salvation Army church, entirely in sign language, to a congregation of people!  It was nerve wracking but I am very proud.  I have also been asked, by the minister of the Salvation Army, to sign “It was on a starry night” at a carol service.  If it wasn’t for the opportunity that Willoughby has given me to learn sign, I wouldn’t have been able to perform this weekend and help a number of people.  I am very grateful!  I have really discovered a passion for learning sign and applying that communication wherever I can.
